The final week and a little about sales

This is it! The final week! On January 15, the Call for Art for SEAF 2020 will close FOREVER! Was that properly dramatic? Maybe a little too much? Still, as of 11:00 p.m. PST, the submission portal will stop accepting new submissions and stop allowing you to make changes to older submissions. The Call for Art will be at its end, and after a quick skim to make sure everything is copacetic, all of the lovely art and writing and performance delights will be turned over to our jurors and curators.

So then, my creatives, this is your week to get your submissions in! Also, this is your week to skim over what you’ve already done, make sure your images meet guidelines, make sure you went back and put in a bio, that you didn’t accidentally say it was 23 cm when you meant 23 in (or vice versa), and any other final checks. Additionally, don’t forget to submit an item or two to the store!

We’re not just here to remind you of deadlines, though, we thought this might actually be a good time to give you some information on how sales work at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. The festival exhibition sales average 28% – which is higher than any other erotic art festival – with an all time high in 2013 of 32% and we came close in 2017 with 30%. Festival store sales are excellent, and a great opportunity for artists who make prints, cards, and other associated merchandise to accompany their exhibition pieces. Or even if you don’t have an exhibition piece! If you make adorable naughty little items all year round, the festival store is the place for your wares.

During the exhibition, art sales are made by the docents. Docents are volunteers who take on extra hours to review and learn the art, and can be found either at the Art Sales table, or walking the exhibition floor. You can identify a docent at a distance by the white scarves they wear.

Remember, if you have questions about submitting your art, start at our info page over here. If that doesn’t help, you can always contact us via email (info@seattleerotic.org) or you can call us at (206) 229-2185.  Now go!  The clock is ticking!  Send in your art!
