Artists, it’s almost that time of year! The 2017 Seattle Erotic Art Festival is just around the corner, and it’s time to start thinking about submission…of the artistic sort, of course. The Call for Art opens December 1st. We’d like to announce key dates, relevant workshops for visual artists, and important changes this year in the pricing structure so you can be ahead of the game and start preparing your art. Read more, and get ready to submit— you just might have your work featured in one of the largest erotic art festivals in the world.
Important Dates
The Call for Art opens December 1st, 2016 at 12PM PST for all categories (visual, literary, store, performance, installation/interactive art).
The Call closes January 15th, 2017 at 11PM PST.
In honor of our 15th anniversary, the Early Bird submission fee is $15 between December 1st and December 18th.
Guidelines for submitting your art can be found here. Please carefully review these guidelines prior to submission!
Visual Artists
Images of your art must be included with each submission, and you’ll want to ensure you show us your best. If you’ve been trying to figure out how to make great images of your art, but get overwhelmed or don’t even know how to start, join us at a one-day workshop focused on photographing your artwork. You’ll spend 4 hours with Michelle Bates (photographer, author, and educator) covering cameras, lenses, lighting, backgrounds, digital files, and more. The class includes sample 2D and 3D shooting setups, and artists are encouraged to bring challenging pieces to class for hands-on instruction.
Photographing Your Artwork – Workshop Date/Location: December 6th, 2016 1-5pm at West of Lenin’s studio in Fremont. Tickets/more information can be located here.
Pricing Changes
Good news for artists who submit early; we have a VERY special offer for you. To celebrate our 15th Anniversary, we are announcing a $15 fee for early bird submissions. This is $10 off our standard price, and is a great way to save money, particularly if you’re submitting a large number of pieces, or pieces in more than one category. Take advantage of the 15th Anniversary love December 1st – December 18th.
We are also making a change to our standard submission fee this year. The standard submission fee for visual, installation, literary, and store artists is now $35 (performance artist submissions remain free). This is $5 above our 2016 fee, and is the first price increase in 5 years. We understand that no one likes price increases, and we’ll do our best to keep them minimal, while still providing a great venue for erotic art.
More news to come as we get closer to the Call for Art date! In the meantime, feel free to peruse our For Artists guide for additional information on the submission process.
