As our Call for Art continues right along (only 4 weeks left!), we thought this would be a good time to introduce you to the SEAF 2020 Visual Art Jury! These fantastic lovers of art, many artists themselves, have offered up their time to view and consider all the lovely salacious work making its way to us. Our jurors come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, united by not only their love of art but an understanding of the importance of seeing the erotic reflected in art. And so may we present (in no particular order) our jury:
LaDonna (she/her), a Seattle native, discovered her attraction to erotic arts several years ago through events with the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture, now the Pan Eros Foundation. She has since shared her fascination with erotic arts, emphasizing safe and consensual practices, both locally and on playa. As a collector and enthusiast, she holds great respect for artists and appreciation for their creations. She is extremely thankful for the Pan Eros Foundation and the Seattle Erotic Art Festival for their contributions to the community and is honored to be part of this year’s visual arts jury.
Lauren M. Wong (she/her) is an Art Director by day, a Mother by night, and an Artist and Illustrator by even later at night. Her personal work focuses on themes of identity, fragility, and empowerment. Her most recent works examine decay and growth and their relation to the body.
Victor Salmon (they/them) is an intersectional mixed-race feminist, queer relationship anarchist, educator, public speaker, Metro Vancouver Kink (MVK) legacy series educator, accountability coach, and host of Intimate Interactions Podcast. They’ve been in the Vancouver Kink scene for 8 years, and practicing ethical non monogamy for about 7 years. In 2019, Victor spoke at the BC Center for Disease Control, Westcoast Bound, Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, Converge Con, Reimagining Masculinities, and Stratagem: Workplace Justice Reimagined.
Lee Worthy (he/him) is a nude art photographer whose work has been exhibited multiple times at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. His mission is to explore the variety of male forms and functions from the erotic to the everyday. “Though only skin, light and shadow, relatable moments can be captured and preserved for the ages.” That’s his story and he’s sticking to it.
Drea Talley (she/her) is a bi femme freelance writer and chaotic good rogue. She has been the Artist Liaison for the Seattle Erotic Art Festival since 2015, started volunteering for the festival in 2009, and has opinions regarding erotic art. So many opinions. Her short stories and poetry have appeared in The SEAF Literary Anthology, AHF Magazine, Crabfat Magazine, and Manastash. She likes tea, tiny cakes, geekery, and snark.
We welcome our jurors to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival’s Visual Art Jury, and look forward to the Festival they will help create! For more information about submitting your art for the jury’s pleasure, read all about the Call for Art here.
