Join us in celebrating the Seattle Erotic Art Festival’s prestigious membership program, the Art Activist Society.
You are cordially invited to an exclusive soirée benefiting the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. We are once again hosted at the stunning home of art collectors Vincent Lipe and invited and acclaimed artist Steve Jensen. Join us for an evening of performances, live music, exquisite food, a unique way to participate in the art and support the festival, and a sneak peek at the 2017 selected art. Oh, and don’t forget to go on a tour of the Naughty Room.
This year, we have a guest of honor, Miss Indigo Blue, the international burlesque sensation and Headmistress of The Academy of Burlesque. We will be honoring Miss Indigo Blue as the 2016 inductee Master of Erotic Art. The Masters of Erotic Art program showcases artists who have made meaningful contributions to the history and development of erotic art. Miss Indigo has achieved the highest honors available to burlesque performers. She has encouraged and empowered thousands of people to express the innate sexiness and creativity of their bodies through her classes. We are excited to now have a performance artist among our recognized Masters of Erotic Art.
Sneak Preview
One of the most exciting parts of this evening, is the preview of what SEAF2017 will offer. A slideshow of accepted and invited visual artists will be playing throughout the evening. Jurors and curators will be on hand to share stories about why particular pieces of art were chosen. The Festival Director will reveal exciting details of festival plans. Art Activists have the first opportunity to purchase visual art at the Black Tie Affair. What better way to avoid the disappointment of seeing a red dot on the piece of art you fall in love with?
Art Docents will be on hand to answer questions about art and process sales. All art that is purchased at the Black Tie Affair will be available for pick up at the end of the Festival on Sunday, April 30th. Art Activists that cannot join us at the Affair will be provided an online gallery to preview the art.
Performers
Performances curated by Jesse Belle-Jones, Seattle Erotic Art Festival’s Stage Performance Director, are sure to astound and amaze, leaving you breathless for what is to come at the Festival.
Waxie Moon has performed at various venues throughout Seattle including Key Arena, On The Boards, The Triple Door, The Seattle Rep, ACT Theatre and The Moore Theater. He is beyond thrilled to be part of this exquisite affair to support SEAF, one of his favorite organizations in our sexy sanctuary city.
Twisted Monk
Imani Sims is a performer, educator, and curator from Seattle, WA. She believes in the transformational nuance of the human story and the inherent magic in performance art. She works to empower youth and adults through performance poetry. Her book (A)live Heart is available on Sibling Rivalry Press.
Michaud Savage
I am honored to be a part of this gathering, and feel very lucky to live in a place where this community and organization exists. I am grateful for the work that the FSPC has done in helping create a safer place for people to grow, the continued resistance against sexual repression, and the celebration of greater intra- and interpersonal wholeness.
Auction
This year’s auction will feature only two items:
- sponsoring international performance artist Midori
- a limited edition Monk Sak Pak and rope bondage kit from TwistedMonk.com.
We are honored to announce that “Kimono 2: What We Wear” is scheduled for Saturday night of the Festival. Winning this auction provides you and a guest a unique experience. Watch a rehearsal before the festival opens where you will meet and chat with Midori about being a part of this interactive performance on Saturday night. Enjoy special front row seats to Saturday’s performance. Midori insists that the auction winners be willing to keep their part in the performance secret until the time of the performance.
Midori will explore the layers of identity and internalized expectations of performance of gender, race, culture, beauty and commodification of the Japanese American woman today in this provocative and challenging performance. Be a part of bringing this powerful artist and her voice to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival.
Twisted Monk has been a long time supporter of the Festival, alternately as both an artist and a sponsor. This year, the fantastic folks at TwistedMonk.com have created an elegant, limited edition Monk Sak Pak just for bondage lovers who happen to have very good taste in erotic art. The MonkSak Pak provides a compact and discreet way of storing and protecting your rope at home or on the go. Specially built for beginner to intermediate kits up to 175ft of rope, with an intuitive envelope-fold design. The Pak allows for discretion with a black exterior and simple design that keeps your secrets safe. These limited edition Paks are only available as part of our Bondage Lovers Delight gift package, and as an auction item at the Affair.
Additional Opportunity to Support the Festival
Steve Jensen, famous for his wood carvings and paintings, will open up his gallery for personally guided tours. Steve has offered to donate 25% of all purchases of his art made during the Affair to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. We are immensely grateful for his generosity. You can see photos on Steve’s facebook page of recent artworks that have been shown at the Bellevue Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum, and that will be available for viewing at the Black Tie Affair.
Nibbles and Desserts:
This year, we have a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef who will delight your palate with light appetizers for your after-dinner nibbling pleasure.
Dress to Impress! This year, Black Tie includes a bondage theme, for those of you who prefer costuming to formalwear.
